APEC 11/21: LENR & EVOs, Stellar Engines & Interstellar Drives
Jean-Paul Biberian will explore cold fusion’s potential to transform the energy world and share insights from more than three decades of experimental research; Bob Greenyer will discuss emerging directions in EVOs, LENR, and unconventional energy; Dr. Kelvin Long will introduce the advanced propulsion concepts in Stellar Engines and look beyond engineering to the themes of his forthcoming novel; and Dr. Gerald Jackson will compare antimatter and fusion concepts for slowing spacecraft at distant exoplanets. Following the featured presentations, join the APEC community for laboratory updates, audience questions, and open discussion.
12:00pm PT — Jean-Paul Biberian — Cold Fusion: A Game Changer in the Energy World
Jean-Paul Biberian will explore cold fusion’s potential to transform energy production, drawing on his own experimental work and an overview of research worldwide. Working in the field since 1993, he has investigated a wide range of approaches, including solid-state electrolytes, electrochemistry, and gas-phase nanomaterials.
Beginning with the 1989 announcement by Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons, Jean-Paul will discuss the development of the field and the experiments that have shaped his research. His presentation will bring together the history of cold fusion, his experience in the laboratory, and the current state of international efforts to understand low-energy nuclear reactions.
1:00pm PT — Bob Greenyer — EVOs, LENR & the Future of Energy
Bob Greenyer returns to APEC to explore what’s next in EVOs, low-energy nuclear reactions, and unconventional energy research. He’ll discuss the questions and opportunities he sees shaping these fields, with a focus on emerging directions for investigation and their potential relevance to future energy technologies.
2:00pm PT — Dr. Kelvin Long — Stellar Engines & Beyond
Dr. Kelvin Long will explore the engineering challenges of advanced spacecraft propulsion through an overview of his book, Stellar Engines: Advanced Spacecraft Propulsion through Extreme Aerospace Engineering Design. The book examines inertial confinement fusion as a means of powering interplanetary and interstellar missions, bringing together fusion physics, engine design, and future spacecraft concepts.
In the “Beyond” portion of his presentation, Kelvin will introduce his forthcoming science fiction novel and its themes of artificial intelligence, religion, and geopolitics. The session will bring together his work as an aerospace engineer and astrophysicist with his interest in the broader questions shaping humanity’s future.
3:00pm PT — Dr. Gerald P. Jackson — Antimatter vs. Fusion Deceleration Concepts for Exoplanet Exploration
Dr. Gerald P. Jackson will compare antimatter and fusion propulsion concepts for one of interstellar exploration’s central challenges: slowing a spacecraft down at its destination. He’ll examine how these approaches could support the exploration of exoplanets, focusing on the underlying principles and enabling technologies.
Gerald brings experience in antimatter propulsion research through Hbar Technologies and nuclear fusion development at Beam Alpha Incorporated, where he serves as president and CEO. His presentation will provide an overview of the motivation for these propulsion systems and the engineering challenges involved in developing them for future exploration missions.
4:00pm PT — Lab Updates & Experimental Research
Members of the APEC community are invited to share progress from their laboratories, including current experiments, prototypes, and recent measurements. Join a practical exchange about experimental methods, technical challenges, and opportunities for collaboration.
5:00pm PT — Open Discussion & Ad-Hoc Presentations
Stay for audience questions, discussion of the day’s presentations, and informal contributions from the community. Researchers and experimenters are welcome to share brief updates, introduce new ideas, and connect with others working on emerging energy and propulsion concepts.
